CQMS Engineering is the research and development arm of the CQMS Group. CQMS Engineering is operated by Leslie Consulting Pty Ltd which is dedicated to the full supply of the engineering needs and demands of CQMS. The innovative and collaborative environment at CQMS Engineering attracts highly respected and practical engineers and technicians from around Australia.
At CQMS Engineering, science and innovation is central to its work. Engineers recommend and provide best-in-class solutions for CQMS clients. In this manner CQMS Engineering effectively develops products that promote higher productivity at mine and hard rock sites. The division then applies state-of-the-art technology along with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the mining processes to its research efforts. Once products are installed in the field a continual monitoring system closes the feedback loop resulting in appropriate and innovative improvements to future products.
Scale testing and computer simulation is used extensively by CQMS Engineering to optimise the performance of draglines, shovels and excavators for the end user. Scale testing is a cost-effective means of trialling multiple design scenarios in a controlled environment prior to the release of products to the market. By applying these tools and techniques to product development, CQMS Engineering designers can experimentally prove new designs and can greatly improve current in-field products. This process allows CQMS Engineering to develop products that are lighter, faster and more efficient than the competition. Once the scaled product designs are optimised for performance, 3D computer models are then used for developing full-scale products which are cast and then fabricated for market.
CQMS invests significant funds each year in on-going research and development. Current research programs are focused on the development of high-quality innovative products such as dragline buckets, rigging, wear parts, excavator bucket lips and Ground Engaging Tools (GET). The list of products in development reflects both in-house design effort and collaborations with end user clients. CQMS Engineering has over 20 people dedicated to providing market leading CQMS products.
